Mission Statement

|
Trinity Briefs™ is dedicated to the principle that high school Lincoln-Douglas (LD) debate should be about the exchange and clash of ideas. This is why we don’t fill our topic primers with hundreds of pages of out-of-context or run-of-the-mill quotations. Instead, we provide our customers with ‘value positions’—arguments and evidence built around individual, unified philosophical themes.
Winning in LD debate shouldn’t be about who uses the most technical jargon or who speaks the fastest!
Reason — Thoroughly questioning, analyzing, and understanding the topic being debated.
Purpose — Recognizing both the importance and objective of one’s arguments.
Self Esteem — Feeling confident and honestly believing in the truth of one’s arguments.
Even though the LD resolution may change every two months, the principles underlying LD debate itself don’t. These principles are what teach high school students how to confront questions of morality, equality, justice, and liberty. While this might seem like a grandiose vision of what high school debaters ought to take away from competing in LD, it shouldn’t be. Presenting the complexities of life and encouraging debaters to think about them in a principled manner—this is our mission.
